Nails of the Day

Hey

So yesterday while I was trying to work on my essay, I noticed my nails were a bit bare and dull so I decided it was a good time as any to paint them.  I wanted to do something I haven't done before colour combination wise which led me to what my nails look like now.

The purple is called Grape Times and is a 'Express Finish' by Maybelline New York.  I've had this colour for quite a while and I love the rich deep colour.  Like the title says it does dry quite fast and it pays to do a couple of coats to achieve the deep colour.  However it does chip easily after a couple of days so it pays to have a base and top coat on.

The shimmery metallic blue is a Turquoise Shatter polish by O.P.I.  I love the colour, this is the first time I've used it and wanted to see if it went well with the purple.  I think it looks amazing on the nails I got right.  Pays to do only one coat so it shatters while it dries, if you do more than one it's will just look like a thin messy cover over the base colour.

Pandora Ring

Hey

So last Thursday after a long day at uni I came home and my brother gave me a Pandora bag and said Happy Birthday.  I was a bit confused as my birthday was two weeks ago but I my brother isn't really on to it with gifts and usually leaves it till the last minute so I was surprised when he gave it to me.

I first I thought it would have been another Pandora charm as my parents got me a bracelet for my birthday but I was delighted when I saw it was a ring.

As you can see it's a daisy ring.  I'm not usually fond of jewellery with any kind of flowers on them, but I think this one is really cute and simple and I can wear it anywhere, anytime.

This is the Pandora bracelet I got from my parents.  The 21st charm is from them and the big blue one is from my aunt and uncle.

XO Beauty Brushes

Hey

So a while ago XO Beauty had their first birthday and to celebrate they had all their brushes on sale; this for me was too good an opportunity to miss.  I've been meaning to get some more brushes and I made it into a 21st birthday gift to myself.

 Kabuki Brush
This brush has been on my must have list for a while and I when I saw the sale it was the first brush in my shopping cart.  Before buying this brush I had been putting my pressed powder on with my Real Techniques Blush Brush. It was ok but I like having one brush for each job; I don't know why but for me it's just easier.  This brush is amazing first of all it's so soft and I love when I applying the powder it spreads evenly.

Bronzer Brush
This brush was also a big one on my must have list as I didn't really have a proper bronzer brush and the one I've been using just didn't work well at all.  Like the Kabuki its so soft, I love brushing it on my face and the best part is having a even distribution of bronzer which doesn't make me look I have a bad fake tan.

Eyebrow Brush
It was a hard time trying to pick just three brushes to buy and I was tossing up between this brush and the blending brush; I decided to go for this one as I'm still a novice at this make up stuff and I don't really have any eye shadows to use anyway.  This brush is definitely better than the one that comes with the Elf Eyebrow kit. I haven't really used it yet as my eyebrows are horrible and want to get them professionally shaped.  The brush is also good for smudging eyeliner which helped me decide to buy it.

Hope you all enjoyed this post.  Sorry for the lack of posts, once again the stress of assignments is bearing down and takes up my time.  I'll try to do at least two posts a week... hopefully.

Mona Lisa Theft

Hey

So this semester I'm taking a really interesting paper about Art Crime which is basically artworks that have been stolen and most of the time have not yet been found.  For my first assignment we have to write a kind of encyclopaedia entry about an artwork, and of course I picked Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa.

While it was famous for being painted by the Italian master Da Vinci it became even more well-known in August the 22nd 1911 when it was stolen from the Louvre by Vincenzo Peruggia.  Peruggia was angered by the fact the painting was hung in France and believed it should by where it was created, it Italy.  Peruggia hid in a broom cupboard and when the museum closed he took the painting straight from the wall it hung on.  The painting was found in 1913 and before it was returned to the Louvre it toured around Italy which is kind of what the thief wanted. The women is believed to be Lisa Gherardini, wife of a Florentine cloth merchant named Francesco del Giocondo but is not 100% certain. Since then the painting has fascinated people including myself with her mysterious gaze, and the mystical background behind her.

New Lime Crime Lipsitck

Hey

I kind of have a obsession with lipsticks and I pretty much want every colour in every brand so when I saw Pagan Marie Boutique was restocking their Lime Crime lipsticks I thought I might get one, passing it off as a celebratory gift for passing summer school ;).

The colour I really wanted, Glamour 101 was sold out so I went with the runner up which was Centrifuchsia which I wanted anyway.

While the lip stick itself looks purple when applied on my lips its more of a purple/pink hybrid which looks amazing!  As usual it smells nice and is creamy and goes on nice.  Make sure your lips aren't too dry and also to wet as you won't get a nice application of colour.  For some reason I have problems with the middle inside of my bottom lip and I can't get colour on it *sigh*.

Hope you all enjoyed this post :D

New Clothes

Hey

Like I mentioned in a previous post I'm going to a family wedding so I thought I'd share the amazing dress I'm wearing because it's so pretty and also another cool piece of clothing that was really really cheap, which is awesome.

Dress from Forever New
I had originally a cool black dress from Farmers which I was going to wear but it was kind of plain and boring and I wanted something fun and colourful which is exactly what I got. The dress has a very high neck and sort of drapes in the back which I couldn't really show off as it was freezing and I wore my jacket the whole time.  It also comes it at the waist so there's no need for a belt and the dress has a very ethereal quality to it. The dress was quite expensive and hopefully there will be other opportunities to wear it out.

White Blazer from the Warehouse
I first saw this piece at the Warehouse at Takanini and it was only $10! unfortunately there was only one left and not in my size.  However when I went to get the dress above from Sylvia Park we went into the Warehouse there and found some and they were still only $10. I've always loved blazers and wanted to have some but the ones I find are quite expensive so I was understandably excited when I found this.  I fits me really nicely and could really work with any outfit for any occasion.

Hope you enjoyed this post, I recently bought some new beauty products so expect to see them pretty soon ;)

Shoes Shoes Shoes

Hey

So the day has come where my stress levels are about to rise to an all time high and I lose my sanity, that's right university has once again started.  Last week my Mum and I went out shopping in hopes of finding some shoes for a wedding that's this week, shoes were bought... but not for that occasion (oops).

I am obsessed with these shoes! Both pairs were bought from Number One Shoes and they had a sale  where if you bought $50 or more you get 25% off which was awesome.

Black Canvas Shoes: I used to have a pair exactly like these which I LOVED. I literally wore them all the time especially to uni.  They ended up falling a part and I really wanted another pair.  These were only $20 I know I will have good use of them.

Ruby Bronte Shoe: I saw these shoes displayed at the front of the store and I soon as I saw them I loved them.  What drew me to them was the colour, I've never had shoes this colour, and also the material it's made of, they are very soft and velvety.  This pair was $50 but with the sale both pairs ended up only costing the price for these shoes.

Hope you enjoyed this post :D
